Join us for our second FEMALE FILMAKER FESTIVAL Art Exhibition "Paint This Town Red" in the Kino Moviemento lounge, which is running parallel to the festival from Oct. 7-11, 2020.

The exhibition will be open between 17:00-21:00 during all festival days.

In timely response to the blast that happened August 4th and led to great destruction in Beirut, Constanze Flamme has set up a print sale of her works, of which proceeds will go directly to the affected areas and the cultural scene of the city.

Instead of the much anticipated return to Louisiana after 8 years to continue the documentation on the impact of the Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill, the 10th year memorial in April and regional Anthropocenic entanglements it is time now for a home stay. A quite unusual situation since being in motion and in movement with and in the outside world is the bassline of my life.

I thought in the beginning that there is no imagery as a response for now, that there will be quietude and blank space. But this beautiful idea by @yanawernicke and @jonasfeige to let photographers converse through that time brings in a new tone and playfulness into these days. You can follow @barbelpraun and me ping ponging and responding to each other with images, traveling the imaginary and the nearby, @mika_sperling and @mjkuijper in their tandems and many more great photographers around the globe if you like to:

Stay safe in this extraordinairy time!

Right into the new year: participation at Parallax

The Anthropocene Campus Lisboa: Parallax (ACL: Parallax), is an event organised by the Portuguese research center CIUHCT and its project Anthropolands taking place at Culturgest in Lisbon, Portugal, between 6 and 11 January 2020. This Campus is part of the Anthropocene Curriculum initiated by the Haus der Kulturen der Welt (HKW) and the Max Planck Institute for the History of Science (MPIWG), which has generated two Anthropocene Campus in Berlin (2014, 2016) and several satellite events worldwide.

With the words by Jacques Brel I wish a healthy, and joyfully driving and thriving 2020.

Theres is work to be done, eyes to keep open to what happens around us, silences to learn to listen to us and others and hear the voice of happiness in small things....

"I wish you endless dreams and the furious desire to make some of them come true. I wish you to love what to love and forget what to forget. I wish you passions, I wish you silences. I wish you bird songs on waking up and children's laughter. I wish you to respect the differences of others, because the merit and value of each one is often to be discovered. I wish you to resist the bogging down, the indifference and the negative virtues of our times. Finally, I wish you never to give up research, adventure, life, love, because life is a magnificent adventure and no reasonable person should give it up without fighting a hard battle. Above all, I wish you to be you, proud and happy, because happiness is our true destiny."

Jacques Brel's wishes January 1, 1968 (Europe1)

A growing landscape as a contribution to Ci.CLO Bienal'19 "Adaptation and Transition"

Yaah, now I can tell instead of promoting (though the story goes on;)) -- On November 23rd the seeding of oaks happened with the wonderful Projecto Cabeço Santo and volunteers from the region - who didnt shy from the ongoing rains which were with us in the north of Portugal and demanded to start with seeding oaks than planting fragile trees in these weather conditions. But: sun came out too and the planting will happen when nature allows and receive it. I am happy that I could be there that day, slipping the mountainslopes and seeding for the collective support and idea of an extended contribution to the Ci.CLO Bienal Fotografia do Porto and its topic "Adaption and Transition" this year: supporting a restoration of diversity and green corridors within and against the eucalyptus plantations and its dangers of rapidly spreading and devastating forest fires.

I thank to the fullest for your trust and support: Hamdy Reda, Christa Flamme, Martina H. Weber, Katrin Ruhnke, Lars Gabrys, Lisa Hoffmann, Filippo Menichetti, Claudio Reis, Renee Chabot, Jayne Dyer, James Mayor, Johanna Dehio, Polly Hummel, Sara Santos, Mariana Lima, Maria Loizou, Emma Larcelet, Martin, Liz, Luma, Pascale, Julia, Jenny & Lisa, Ursula Rupp, Reine, Bärbel Praun, Charlotte Liebrecht, Flaminia Celata Fla Danslarue, Randolf Pirkmayer, Virgilio Ferreira, Yerin, Jan, Eva Bobst, Elissa, Agnes, Fernand, Celia, Andrea Sartorius, Moja Lees, Claudia Winklmair, Claus Baldus, Ro Caminal, Monica Tranchych, Maria Oliveira for contributing one or more trees. 232 trees by now! Beirut, December 2018 - ifa Künstlerkontakte

ifa supported the flight to connect back with Beirut in December and let me roam again the streets to continue with the street observations. A resulting foto/film/sound and text collage “El sama bi Bayroute helweh - Der Himmel ist schön über Beirut” was part of the Long Night of Worldreligions at Thalia Thater in Hamburg in January featuring the cities Beirut, Hamburg and New York - whileas I focused on the city as a texture, invisible demarkations and figures representing the different aspects I compare to plate tectonics in the fabric of the city Beirut. In Geology the relative motion determines the type of boundary where the plates meet: convergent, divergent or transform. Earthquakes and vulcanic activities are consequences, In Beirut the eruptions are of a different quality. Yet where friction is, warmth occur. This is why I am happy to include voices of friends and encounters about their own perception of the city. The textlayer was read by actors on the stage - with the mesmerizing Soundcontribution:

The great Departed - Old Copper | Khaled Soubeih; Metro Al Madina & Al-Rahel Al-Kabir, Beirut 2016

I wish you a magical, healthy and generous 2019!

Thank you for following me, work with me or supporting the ways I go

Un aura agafa la linea / Audiotalaia

/ Sounding Stones - gathering sonic contributions and spoken poetry by musicians and sound artists fused with field recordings as a final piece of the Audiotalaia summer camp, exhibited in the chapel Santa Susanna, Montseny. The topography of each stone was taken and interpreted as graphical scores based on a set of rules. A sonic portrait of the rocks from that region as an embrace of sounds in my practice. Very happy about the contributions, the haiku by Jolon Dixon, translated and recorded with the haunting voice by Balbina Sardà in Catalan and the atmosphere it created.

Cordial Invitation to the Opening of Cartographies Saturday May 26th à Sylabs in Algiers, Algeria.

-Jean Luc Godard-

Beirut (Feb-May 2017)

Currently in Beirut as a stipend of the CrossCulture Programme by ifa working with the organisation FRAME

It is march 1rst.
Beirut comes to a halt.
It rains.
A perfect day to sit down and reflect on the first weeks here in Beirut.
It is unusual quiet, the pigeons and birds take over - and wave with
the operation-sound of the harbor through the balcony in my room in Geitawi.
Where to start?
With the polyphonies?
Of encounters, coincidences, sounds, textures, eclectisism of the architecture,
traces of the civil war and the hidden gems of a architectural heritage which catapults in imagination to the times, when Beyrouth was the shining diva at the mediterranean coast? The colorful and tasty dishes, a delightful composition of different mezzes. The pride of the Lebanese, when they talk about the food or the mountains, whileas the permanent struggle for identity is undermining the conversations, which switch significantly and fluently between arabic, french and english. Historybooks for school stop in 1945. There is no agreement who tells (his)story. And at times it looks like no one sees a future in the country.

Artist in Residence&Research (Dez/Jan 2016)

in the sound&cityscapes of Giza/Cairo

In the concrete jungle of tetris-like architecture in the informal settlement Ard el Lewa, between raising minarets and towers in the purple misty sky of an almost permanent smog ghostly illuminated by billboards along bridges overriding the vibrant hustle of middle-east alleys, markets and traffic - a sea of noise, waves of cacophony - from time to time directed by the allover call for prayer through thausends of speaker.

Beautiful then to raise the gaze and climb up the rooftops to the realm of Cairo Pigeonbreeder, the birds and their performances in the sky. Currently working on a multimedia collage to embrace the eclectic and contrast.

Cordial Invitation to the Vernissage 26.11 at 7 pm at Projektraum Kunstquartier Bethanien . Mariannenplatz 2 . 10997 Berlin

Tiefen

Gruppenausstellung im Projektraum Kunstquartier Bethanien . Mariannenplatz 2 . 10997 Berlin
 vom 27.11.15 - 29.11.15

Annina Lingens dokumentiert in ihrer Serie Heimat Sichtschutzbietende Grundstücksgrenzen.

Fotoworkshop in Kühlungsborn (Grips gewinnt / Erkenne Deine Stärken-Camp, May)

Foto by Ahmet, Atiom & Mamadou

Despite a relatively cold temperature sun came out and allowed the young scholarship holders to roam around in Kühlungsborn and wether explore the environement or themselves in portrait photography. One of the participants first stated that he hasn't to do anything with photography and sees no interest in it and was seen the next day barely letting hands off a camera. Nice to see when a certain magic suddenly unfolds - and to jump the first time of the year into the sea!

Currently attending the Workshop-Module at AGORA AFFECT, May

Sensitive Observers, we are the world and how to construct social platforms for it

facilitated by Stine Marie Jacobsen

A workshop about social constructions for participatory art projects, introducing methods from both in- and outside the art world. Hinging on a triple artist/corporation/institution logic, this module studies their different use of and relation to language, metaphors and ethics. A both semantic and socio-political observation where we and our own behaviours figure as necessary research instruments.
